Team Coaching

Team coaching is a coaching process specifically for an entire team. The aim is to increase the collective performance of the team in the long term. As with coaching in general, the main focus is on encouraging reflection and helping the team members to help themselves. As a team coach, I facilitate the work with agreed coaching goals and provide your team with food for thought. Consequently, your team is enabled to develop  concrete solutions in and for the team itself.

My Focus Areas in Team Coaching

Team Starter

Newly teams often lack a clear vision, a mission, and common goals. Therefore, I work with team members to establish roles & responsibilities and a mutual goal.

What you can expect from my coaching

My team coaching approach relies on the belief that every team has the potential to be a high-performance team already within.

Team Coaching - As Unique and Diverse as Your Team

My team coaching is tailor-made to the needs and hence the specific situation of your team.

Dialogue and Exchange: Team coaching is the process of working with the team to improve skills, performance, relationships, and also communication in the team.

Effective Communication: After individual check-ins with each team member, I facilitate interactive & collaborative workshops for the team to come up with solutions.

Growth Mindset: The goal of team coaching is to guide the team towards becoming a high-performing team that collaborates well, innovates constantly, and adapts easily.

Team Coaching Enhances Your Team

If you recognize your team in the following list, team coaching might be beneficial for your team:

  • Disappointing Performance: Your team is not performing to it's full potential, misses deadlines, or overextends budgets.
  • Communication Problems: When communication btw. team members or btw. your team and external stakeholders isn't at par, misunderstandings can lead to error and missed opportunities.
  • Conflicts: Unresolved or uncovered conflicts in the team, whether across the board or btw individual team members, is toxic for the team's performance.
  • Changes: The only constant is change, but change can be difficult for individuals as well as for teams. Everyone in the team has to learn to deal with change and that can cause conflicts
  • Team Building: Whether a team is newly created or has been working in the same setup for several years, without true team spirit the performance of the team will always suffer.

Turn Good Teams Into Great Ones

A high-performance team is composed of individuals who value strong interpersonal communication, forward thinking, and accountability for the results of the team. Such a team will inevitably be successful. A strong team understands what skillset and tools are needed for them to be successful. Therefore, they have the flexibility to constantly adjust both. They constantly reassess their preparedness and use training and upgraded tools to close gaps that keeps them from  performing at their best.

Unless a team that is clear about why, what or how they work, the team members have to make their own assumptions and interpretations. Not only does there need to be clarity on the goals, roles and methods, but agreement about them is also critical. If a team member believes that the why, what or how is wrong, they may dis-engage and ultimately openly resist unless this is resolved.

In a team that is not happy, high-performance may be possible but is not sustainable in the long run. Happiness requires people to feel connected, engaged and fulfilled. While personal happiness may be defined individually, members of high-performing teams place a strong focus on the connection with their peers and engagement in their work as the basis for fulfilment and happiness.

High-performing teams understand that trust takes time to build and a high degree of joint effort by everyone in the team. Trust is build upon honesty btw. the team members, the safety to be vulnerable, and the acceptance of interdependence btw team members. Therefore, high-performing teams have processes in place to continually build and protect trust because it can quickly be damaged.
